My Open Letter To Parents Of College Students Went Viral
I wrote an open letter to the parents of college students that has since become one of my most widely shared blog posts to date.
In the letter, I share some common themes related to challenges that students have experienced, learned through my work with students over the years.
Think of it as sharing the things students wish they could say, but may not feel comfortable enough to share for a variety of reasons, including power dynamics.
For parents and supportive loved ones, use my letter as a conversation starter towards more authentic relationships between yourselves and your loved student(s).
For student affairs professionals, and faculty, and other supportive staff in higher ed, my letter can also be used as a resource for discussion, training, and consideration regarding some of the challenges students may face, as well as the kind of support they may need to get through it.
